About Indigo Knees

Scraped knees, a childhood constant. But for my cousin and me, the sting was connected to a ritual of healing and re-membering. Using the indigo crop harvested by our enslaved ancestors on the island that she had left, our grand mother fashioned a remedy for us. In those moments where she rubbed the cool blue paste in our wounds, she taught us about the way that the present consistently touches and co-exists with the past and the way that our (his)stories often contain the very mechanisms for repair and growth that we seek.

Wicca herbal mortar and pestle

In my practice, this memory guides me as I provide individual and organizational learning and development experiences that illuminate our innate values, strengths and expertise as we co-create rituals that forge the world we want to see.

Why Choose Indigo Knees?

Dr. DiAquoi has a nearly supernatural ability to ignite individual, interpersonal, and organizational change from within. While her knowledge is comprehensive and her expertise is unrivaled, what makes her truly peerless is not her ability to teach information or skills, but rather to illuminate capacities you didn't even know you already possessed. Working with Indigo Knees will remind you of the best possible version of who you are.

Leah Hooper, Senior Director of Educational Initiatives, MSPH

Dr. DiAquoi is a sharp, insightful thinker; she makes complex ideas accessible; and she is not afraid to address difficult questions. She has a gift for translating research findings into workshops that provide community members with tangible tools for understanding issues of diversity and challenging instances of inequity. Working with Ray is a joy because her enthusiasm is infectious, and her passion for equity is undeniable.

Dr. Fabienne Doucet, Executive Director, NYU Metro Center

Dr. DiAquoi is an outstanding facilitator, coach, and strategic partner. I've worked alongside Dr. DiAquoi for many years; across contexts, sectors, and countries, she approaches her work with an equity-lens, kindness, curiosity, criticality, and joy. She is able to combine deep historical and academic knowledge of systemic inequities with a firm understanding of adult development and change management - the perfect recipe for meaningful and lasting change!
